Rain Swept by Stephen Jarrell Wlliams

Rain dripping off trees
Clouds already opening to a stark blue sky

Leaves with a new shine
Heavy flutter dance

Lime-green tint between the blades of grass
Water trickling down little levels of earth

Backyard puddles reflecting light
Passing into night and moon and a firefly breeze

Coaxing forgetfulness into contentment
Spring water filling the ruts

From the house the same view into the woods
Changed in mood

No longer longing to move
Home being saved by the rain

Washing the hidden fringes of shadow
Bushes bristling with a squirrel beneath
The look cleaner now into the distance
Open window canvassing the world you seek

The high air healing
Pressed and poured like mist

Inhaled softly with a bowed head.
